Historical Exhibit:
“Old South Charm, New South Progress”
The brainchild of former Columbia Mayor Bill Gentner and County Mayor Jim Bailey, "Old South Charm, New South Progress" is a traveling exhibit that allows children to experience life in 1810 Tennessee. Five modules - Dress for the Day, Play in the Past, Marvelous Medicine, Didactic Days, and Farming Fun - allow children to try on historic clothing, play with period games and toys, make a poultice using a mortar and pestle, use an abacus, write with a quill and ink, and draw with a slate and graphite pencil.
The photos below are from the "Pay it Forward Festival" in Spring Hill, TN and "Mule Day" in Columbia, TN. This exhibit is also on display in our summer location on Garden Street.
