aMuse'um is now open permanently at 123 W. 7th St. in historic downtown Columbia.  Our upcoming exhibits center around a "Main St." theme - a pint-sized town complete with a farm, grocery store, restaurant, bank, courthouse, doctor's office, veterinary clinic, and more!  Your child will love to role-play as an ice cream vendor, doctor, police officer, or firefighter.

We are seeking exhibit sponsors, so if your business would like to see its name on the sign for one of these exhibits, contact us at columbiacm@hotmail.com

Please check here regularly for updates!

"We went yesterday. On the way home, my four-year-old said, "That was so much fun I could have stayed till night!"
-- Facebook fan, Anna Q.

As parents and grandparents, you probably hear enough of yourself saying, "Don't touch that!"  At a children's museum, you don't have to worry.  We WANT the children to touch, create, play and learn.

Past exhibits include::

The Amazing Castle

As visitors explore The Amazing Castle and its eight themed areas, they are introduced to seven story book characters who are part of the castle community. From entertaining to sewing, each character has a special role. As they move through the castle, village visitors playfully explore the interconnectedness of community members in a setting inspired by fantasy and history. Children don costumes and role-play lords and ladies or castle villagers. Visitors can work in the Royal Workshops with “Trim the Tailor” or “Gable the Carpenter.” They pick vegetables in the garden, tote them to the Great Hall to cook up a royal meal and visit the tower to wake “Herald,” the sleeping dragon! Historical Exhibit ::

The brainchild of former Columbia Mayor Bill Gentner and County Mayor Jim Bailey, "Old South Charm, New South Progress" is a traveling exhibit that allows children to experience life in 1810 Tennessee.  Five modules -- Dress for the Day, Play in the Past, Marvelous Medicine, Didactic Days, and Farming Fun -- allow children to try on historic clothing, play with period games and toys, make a poultice using a mortar and pestle, use an abacus, write with a quill and ink, and draw with a slate and graphite pencil.
